This is a story of an internet troll who only trolls other trolls. A multi-styled, mixed-media animated short, takes you on a point of view journey through polarising politics and conspiratorial thinking that is blurring the line between fact and make believe.
Seen through the eye of a digital native, who only wants
to make the world a better place. But who, or what, is this mysterious agitator?

THE IDEA
Sparking a conversation.
The themes at the heart of Troll Story feel urgent today.
This film is my response to the rise of misinformation, growing polarisation, and the disturbing influence of technology on how we see truth. It is both a warning and a reflection, made with the hope of sparking conversation about the world we live in now and the uncertainties we face tomorrow.

THE JOURNEY
From light bulb moment
to finished film.
​The idea first came to me about eight years ago, on a train reading an article about trolls. I suddenly thought: what if a troll only went after other trolls? That lightbulb moment grew into a flood of ideas. I grabbed my notebook, scribbled them down, and within days I had a script.

Several years later, as real-world events began to echo my story, I realised it was the right time to make the film. In 2021, I began what became the most ambitious project I have ever attempted.​

I challenged myself to use a wide range of animation styles and techniques, with seamless transitions so each scene flows into the next like a chain of thought. It was demanding, but also hugely rewarding.​​
